Imagine the girls and costumes of the George Petty and Alberto Vargas pinups brought to life in photos and video, and you basically have Pin-up Wow. The ladies here are all-natural and quite lovely. Their costumes run the gamut of what you’d expect to find in a Vargas calendar: flirtatious secretary, scantily clad 1950s beach girl, luscious fortune-teller, pretty pirate lass, uptown girl, the list goes on and on. Hairstyles & props are all spot-on for the classic pin-up era; even the coloring feels right, with its pastels and gem tones. And of course there are garters, stockings, gloves, and corsets galore.
Each photoset has around 60-150 images and progresses from a (more-or-less) fully clad girl through a flirty striptease “story” that ends with the cheesecake version of a money shot - partial nudity!!! Yes, these pinups are all about eroticism through playfulness and anticipation and the classic but true adage “less is more” (something I feel we’ve lost a bit in these days of ‘gonzo porn’ and every fetish under the sun). Besides being legitimately hot, the girls have real personality and seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves – I really have to emphasize how well the photographer and models have captured the naughty but demure look and feel of classic pinups.
The videos have a similar format – old-fashioned striptease, high quality, sometimes with a quick interview to start things off.
There’s a forum for general discussion, requests, and such – the members, the site owner/photographer, and many of the models are all active posters. This, along with the constant daily updates, really gives a welcoming community-based feel to the entire site.
The Details
- At the time of this review, Pin-up Wow has 59,959 images and 238 videos. The images are good-sized (1060px on the long side for the newer ones) and emphasize visual quality over compression.
- Both high and low resolution downloads offered for the videos (all in wmv format), with some of the high rez ones being offered in HD. They average around 8-15 minutes per film.
- Memberships start at $24.95/month, but prices per month go down sharply if you purchase longer subscriptions.
- New photo or video sets daily.
The Verdict
A superb site for those of us who enjoy the sensuality and personality of classic pinups, and who like a little bit left to the imagination. Large collection, excellent quality all around and obviously a labor of love, highly recommended!
